<<  July 2022  >>

With great sadness but the knowledge that we are doing the right thing Partick Curling Club has decided to move ahead with terminating the lease and vacating the Clubhouse in Victoria Park.   On Friday 13th March 2020 McTears the auctioneers set about selling off the contents of the clubhouse.  The auction went with great success all items selling well with interest coming from Canada, US and mainland Europe as well as attracting buyers over from Arran, Forfar and Fife.

A few more shots of the stones can be found in the gallery.

The success of the auction was not only down to McTears doing a great job of auctioning the stones but also thanks to the hard work of both Billy and Pat who drummed up interest with multiple articles in the press.   Hopefully these articles will remain as valid links for quite a while.

Don't forget to congratulate Iain and his team on their victory in the Jim Gibb competition.

Jim Gibb Trophy season 2019-2020

Bravely faught but unfortunately a loss against Cawder House in the Allan cup sees Partick with a poor record in this years competition.  Played 2, lost 2.  Four games to go in the league section of the competition so still a chance to progress on but we will have to win all the remaining games.

Some great curling from Partick in the Cuthbert cup but sadly not enough to win the competition.  We ended on a record of one victory and one defeat, the ultimate winners, Cawder House, had two good victories.  Congratulations to the Cawder house teams.

It has been a long wait over the summer with all of us itching to get back on the ice for a good game of curling.  Last night we had the opening bonspiel for 2019-2020 - The Dan McFarlane.  A great turn out with 6 teams taking the ice to battle things out.  Congratulations to Jim, Brian, Ian and Heather for a fantastic victory with a total score of +16!

Photo of the victors to come.

Couple of photos to add of the vintage competition winners and the player of the year.

And don't forget to have a look at the gallery for shots of the Partick Bell.

Well done team Lyon on the victory in the Spring league.

Travelling West Coast members Duncan MacColl, May  Morris and Robbie Wishart were aided by long time Partick member, now Edinburgh resident and Gogar member, Geoff Johnstone.

Congratulations to the Partick team entered in the Clive Thomson, a 7:6 victory.  Sadly not enough for the competition as Glasgow won overall by 64:49.

The Season kicked off on Monday with the Dan McFarlane opening bonspiel.  A very successful start to the season with many congratulations to Jim, Maureen, Iain and Pat on their victory and thanks to Ronnie for all the organisation.
